State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) Grant

SBA color logo

Funded in part through a grant with the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) grant helps Kansas non-exporters to get started and existing exporters to export more.
Since the grant’s inception in 2012, more than 30 Kansas small businesses have participated and achieved $17.2 million in actual export sales. In order to further broaden Kansas’ exporter base and increase the export value and volume, the Kansas Department of Commerce and the Kansas Department of Agriculture have joined forces during the 2017 grant year to focus on three main areas: export training, foreign trade missions and shows, and market entry support.

We invite you to visit the sections below to explore these activities and learn how the STEP grant can help you enter and expand in the global market.

Download the Kansas STEP Activity Application to apply for export training.

Kickoff Events

The Kansas Department of Commerce, in cooperation with its partners, will host three kickoff meetings for businesses interested in utilizing STEP grant programs. Meeting details will be announced shortly. Please check back soon.

Please note that a company must first apply to STEP and be approved before participating in a STEP activity.
